panel is a hobby project by Tristan. It is free, and there is no company behind it.
Using panel
You may use panel free of charge, at home or anywhere else, and pass the downloads on to others as long as they are unchanged. panel's own code is not published; this permission does not cover changing it, taking it apart, or selling it.
No warranty
panel is given as it is, without a warranty of any kind, and you use it at your own risk. It runs routers, firewalls and disks, where a mistake can cut a network off or lose data: keep backups, and keep a way back to your old setup until you are sure. As far as the law allows, its maker is not liable for any damage or loss that comes from using it.
Names
Debian, Raspberry Pi, NanoPi, Rockchip, Jellyfin, Plex, Syncthing, Netflix and other names on this site are the trademarks of their owners. They are used only to say what panel runs on or works with; panel is not made, sponsored or endorsed by any of them.
The software inside it
The downloads contain free and open-source software made by others, under their own licences. Those licences, not the terms above, cover that software, and nothing above limits what they allow.
Debian
The Raspberry Pi 4, NanoPi R5S and generic x86 PC images are Debian 13 (trixie), from Debian's own archive, unchanged: its main section and the firmware in non-free-firmware (the PC image also contrib). On an installed machine each package's licence is in /usr/share/doc/package/copyright, and dpkg -l lists the packages and their versions.
The source of every one of those packages, at every version Debian has published, is at snapshot.debian.org, and the current ones at sources.debian.org; on a machine, apt source package fetches it.
The NanoPi R5S's boot loader
The R5S image starts with a boot loader built for it from these sources, unchanged:
- U-Boot v2026.07, under the GNU GPL version 2 or later: source (commit
ece349ade2973e220f524ce59e59711cc919263f), built with itsnanopi-r5s-rk3568_defconfig. - Trusted Firmware-A lts-v2.14.1, under the BSD 3-Clause licence: source (commit
e82c7ced9e76aea35b176e608d67dfe5ebe1c569). - Rockchip's memory set-up,
bin/rk35/rk3568_ddr_1560MHz_v1.26.bin, which is given only as a binary, under Rockchip's licence in rkbin (commit3e288fe814e059dd06833495f845cab04ac20a5c).
panel's own programs
panel's programs are written in Go and use SQLite, through go-sqlite3. SQLite is in the public domain. The fonts, IBM Plex, are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, whose text is here and comes with every copy of panel. The other two licences ask that their words go with every copy:
Go, its standard library, which is built into each program:

Apps
The apps panel installs for you (Jellyfin, Plex, Syncthing and the others in its catalogue) are not in the downloads. Each is fetched from its own makers when you install it, under their own licence and terms.
